Room Technician -

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent; degree from a vocational school or BSc/BA in Facility Management is preferred. Valid certified in Electrical licence A and B is a plus. Candidates not living and working in Malta will not be considered.

responsibilities

  • Respond to guest room maintenance requests promptly.
  • Perform minor repairs involving plumbing, electrical fixtures, furniture, and equipment.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot in-room equipment such as lighting, air conditioning units, televisions, and appliances.
  • Repair hardware including door locks, hinges, and bathroom fixtures.
  • • Carry out operational repair duties consistent with the responsibilities outlined in the existing maintenance technician documentation.
  • • Assist with preventive maintenance tasks across the hotel.
  • • Conduct routine inspections of guest rooms and report any technical issues.
  • • Ensure tools and equipment are kept in proper working condition.
  • • Check the maintenance system for new work orders and update completion status.
  • • Record all maintenance activities and repairs in the hotel’s maintenance system.
  • • Support senior technicians with larger repairs, installations, or technical projects.
  • • Respond to guest repair requests professionally and courteously.
  • • Maintain guest privacy and security when entering rooms.
  • • Ensure minimal disruption to guest comfort during maintenance activities.
  • • Follow hotel health and safety policies and engineering procedures.
  • • Use tools, equipment, and materials safely.
  • • Report hazards, safety risks, or equipment failures immediately.
  • •Proven experience in a hotel.
  • • In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • • Familiarity with plumbing, electrical, sewer and HVAC systems; hotel industry experience is a plus.
  • • Ability to spot safety risks and address needs quickly.
  • • Problem-solving aptitude.
  • • Ability to work well under pressure
  • • Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
